SmileMakers Gift Program: Acknowledging Milestone Birthdays for Those Turning 100 or More Throughout the Year
Our SmileMakers mobilize community support to provide gifts to older and disabled adults in skilled nursing and residential care facilities every year.
The Centennial Smiles Project was launched in 2019 as we recognized the increasing number of residents that were turning 100+ in long term-care facilities.
Rather than just receiving a gift during the holidays we wanted to acknowledge milestone birthdays for those residents turning 100,or more throughout the year. In 2024, our oldest resident was 109!
What is the gift:
- Volunteers provide handmade lap blankets or quilts
- COASC wraps the gift in a SmileMakers branded bag
- COASC presents the recipient with the gift, a signed card and giant helium balloon and spend time with the recipient, making sure they know they are appreciated and celebrated.
If you wish to donate crocheted or knitted lap blankets or handmade quilts, the preferred size is 60”x 70.” Please contact Jamie Cansler at [email protected] for pick up arrangements.
